Via Bacovia projects realised, ongoing or proposed
It is a mountain running competition held in the hills west of the city of Bacau. The first edition was held in 2022 with the Oleacă Association of Bicyclists as the main organiser in association with the County Association of Athletics Bacău. The competition was organised with the support of the City Hall of Luizi Călugăra, the Catholic Parish of Luizi Călugara, the Happy Runners Bacău, Via Bacovia and with funding from the County Council of Bacău, with a number of other sponsors and supporters.
The competition had two events, cross and half-marathon. The start/finish point was in front of the church in Luizi Călugăra. Both routes covered the three chapels located on these hills.
Around 200 runners took part in this competition.
There were also two events for children.
The official website is here: Via Bacovia Trail
Project in progress, adopted, supported and put into “practice” by Arta in Dar, with the support of Via Bacovia.
It is a route that links six chapels located in the hills west of Bacău. Initially this route was called “Pelerinaj 6 capele” (https://viabacovia.ro/route/traseu-6-capele/).
The uniqueness of this route is given by the presence of the six chapels, unique in Romania, but also by the presence of other landmarks, either on the route or in the immediate vicinity of the route.
The project is financed and supported by Luizi Călugăra City Hall, Sărata City Hall, Nicolae Balcescu City Hall, Faraoani City Hall.
This particularly picturesque route will take the traveller through wonderful views of the Siret Basin, the city of Bacău and the surrounding villages, offering peace, relaxation, safety.
Details about this route can be found here: 6 Chapels Pilgrimage Route.

This trail located right in the city will run along both shores of Lake Bacau II, It will also be a thematic and educational trail, A trail for leisure in nature, open to people of all ages. With the advantage of its location, with start and finish in the city, this trail is accessible to everyone, and can be travelled on foot or by bicycle.
It can also be an excellent route for schoolchildren to follow as part of “different school” programmes.
Along the route there will be information panels about the specific flora and fauna of the area, as well as a series of facilities for relaxation and rest.
This project is offered for adoption to any organisation wishing to get involved in the development of the city.
Details about this route can be found here: Delta Bacoviana
Project offered for adoption,
The Tamasidava fortress was inhabited from the Middle Bronze Age until the 2nd century AD and is considered the second largest and most important Dacian fortress after Sarmisegetusa. It was mentioned, together with Zargedava and Piroboridava, by Ptolemy in his Geography.
In the archaeological site on the left bank of Lake Răcăciuni, archaeological excavations were carried out over 40 years, until 1994, excavations that brought to light important archaeological material, including imported vessels, material that testifies to a vast economic activity in this area.
It is now possible to visit the necropolis of the fortress, but access to it is inconvenient, taking a road that is currently being asphalted, then a few hundred metres over arable land.
Via Bacovia aims to bring this symbol of our history and this place with its beautiful view into the right light by involving authorised stakeholders. In this way we will support the creation of appropriate access routes to this site, the placement of information panels, the creation and placement of dioramas with archaeological material and, why not, the creation of pilgrimage and cycling routes that also pass through this area.
We have the full support of the Pâncești City Hall for this project.
The Trebeș-Hemeiuș-Fântânele-Luncani forest is excellent for nature activities, as this forest is crossed by linear forest roads, most of the roads are under the shade of the forest, which makes these trails excellent for both walking and sports – running, MTB especially in summer, being sheltered from the summer heat.
There are several places to enter the trails, the most convenient place being the Trebeș area, as it is close to the city and there is also a convenient place to park your car.
The forest roads being linear this area lends itself very well to family outings even with young children.
Trails of various lengths can be developed in this area. The Camino de Romania/Camino de Bacău route passes through these places.
At the moment on Via Bacovia you can find some of these roads and paths either on the large map of roads and paths or on separate electronic trails, such as the Trebeș Cross Trail,
There is also a beautiful forest reserve, the Arsura reserve.
Starting from the village of Magura, in front of the town hall, there will be two trails, both of them starting uphill in the valley of the Negel stream.
One of the trails, 16km long, will go up to the Pietricica hill and from there it goes back through the valley of the stream, through the Green Gorge, Gherț Chapel, then down to the starting point.
Details of the route, map, photos and GPX track can be found on Via Bacovia here: Măgura-Pietricica-Ghert-Măgura route.
The second route also starts from in front of the Măgura town hall, uphill in the Negelului valley, but will turn right somewhere and return to the starting point. It is about 15 kilometres long. This route is realised in electronic format and to be published.
There is also a 21km route in electronic format, very good for runners who want to train for the mountain running half-marathon. This route is here: Măgura-Răchitișu-Sohodol route.
Together with the ZidART – Street Art Festival, we try to mark optimised urban routes, so that the traveller can follow the ZidART murals on the most optimal route.
The routes will be marked with distinct signs that will lead the traveller from one painting to another. The routes will also be created in electronic format so that the traveller can easily plan their journey.
We intend to take the necessary steps to ensure that in the areas where the murals are to be found there are a minimum of facilities designed to invite the traveller to take a few moments to rest and look at the murals. The minimum necessary would be information boards, benches for resting, rubbish bins, solar reflectors to illuminate the paintings after dark.
Information panels will present information about the ZidART project, the story of the painting and other information of interest to the traveller.
Also, along with these trails, the paintings will be inventoried in a form that will allow the trails and paintings to be later integrated into a mobile app and website.
About ZidART
ZIDART is a project of urban and social regeneration through street art, education and cultural interactions, conceived out of a desire to create a platform for social dialogue that inspires people to be present in the community and to participate in the cultural life of the city.
We want to see these trails included in the school programmes for the Different School.
Realisation of a structured database of points of interest for tourism, sports, recreational and cultural activities. This will inventory museums, monuments, parks, recreation places, e.t.c.
These points of interest will be presented on the website, organised into categories and sub-categories, so that people can easily find the information they need.
The information will also be linked together by various criteria so that the tourist, the traveller, can easily find his way and find as close as possible to the area where the points of interest, routes and related information are located in order to have a pleasant time on his hikes and visits,
Also based on the points of interest we will create mechanisms for collaboration between different entities, for self-promotion and attracting tourists to various activities. For example, accommodation establishments could present leisure opportunities to their guests, such as walking trails, visiting nearby tourist attractions, renting sports equipment or participating in sports, cultural or recreational activities.

Meeting points are areas set up to make it easier for hikers to get together before setting out on the trails, or areas set up to be, among other things, tourist information points.
In these areas there will be tables and benches, games, information boards. Our aim is to create pleasant, beautiful places where people can gather, have a good time, feel the urge to travel, do sport.
The Meeting Points will be located in convenient areas, so that they are close to trails, places to visit.
Also in this direction, we will take the necessary steps to develop places that can be utilised as meeting and recreation points in large and well located areas for the general public, both for singers and locals. Such an area could be the square in front of the church in Luizi-Călugara, the squares in the city of Bacău and the list goes on.

We aim to organise and promote artistic, cultural or sporting events to promote our area, on the one hand, but also to involve the community in participating in these events.
We will also support and promote, as far as possible, any such events.
Also for this purpose Via Bacovia has organised and will organise, free of charge, or sometimes together with our partners, excursions and hikes in the areas related to the city, as well as sports activities such as running or MTB sessions.

At the moment in Bacău there are many opportunities and great places to practice various outdoor sports: cycling, running, kayaking, mountain hiking/ At the same time in Bacău there are a number of organisations that already have a lot of experience in organising various sports competitions.
